Tracking links in Eloqua is important for reporting, but how do you report on those links? How do you report on links that are on landing pages?
You’re in luck…it’s easier than you think.
Things to Note:
- Make sure to use the Tracked URL’s from the file storage library when creating your landing page or email
- The email or landing page needs to be live (read this as emails have been sent or traffic has been directed to landing page the link lives on)
There are 2 different ways to see the traffic to these links. The first is through using Insight Reporting:
1. Navigate to Assets ⇒ Component Library ⇒ File Storage ⇒ Find your file
2. Double click to open the file and copy the Actual URL rather than the Tracked URL
a. The tracked URL contains query strings to help capture contact information and will not work in reporting
3. Click Insight to open the Insight reporting window
4. Click Reports and Dashboards ⇒ Website ⇒ Page Details Report
5. Select the time span this link has been live
6. In the search bar, paste the Actual URL from the file and Click the magnifying glass
7. Click Run Report
8. Read this report as Visits=Clicks
9. Click on any of the underlined metrics to drill down further and see the contacts who clicked on the link
The other way to track links is by building a segment and using filters:
1. Navigate to Assets ⇒ Component Library ⇒ File Storage ⇒ Find your file
2. Double click to open the file and copy the Actual URL rather than the Tracked URL
a. The tracked URL contains query strings to help capture contact information and will not work in reporting.
3. Click Contacts ⇒ Segment ⇒ Create a Segment
4. Click the + button ⇒ Filter Criteria
5. Double Click Visited Websites from the filter criteria area
6. Double Click Visited Websites to configure
7. Paste the Actual URL in the search bar
8. Edit the frequency criteria from the following options:
a. Exactly
b. At least
c. Between
9. Click Save
